Dear distinguished guests and all respected and beloved participants

Good morning, Peace be upon you all, Assalamu’alaikum wr wb

It’s indeed a great honor to PSAP (the Center for Religion and Civilization Studies) to co-host the IYF2008 (International Youth Forum 2008), held in the historical city of Bandung. The city of the Asia Africa Conference and the Non Align Movement with it’s Dasa Sila Bandung (Bandung Ten Principles) and the Spirit of Bandung. Spirit of Peace, Justice and Integrity.
I would like to extend our warm welcome to HE Minister of Youth and Sport, Hon Vice Governor, Excellencies Ambassadors, distinguished guest and all participants from 36 countries to this historical moment of the opening ceremony of IYF2008, at this very historical building of Gedung Merdeka, Bandung.
IYF2008 is a historical event initiated by the Young People. As we sincerely witnessed that the Young People always created a history. The World always indebted to the young generation for the genuine creativity and initiatives.
The current Governor and Vice Governor of West Java are also young people. I would like to take this opportunity to congretulate the Governor and Vice Governor for assuming this great responsibility in this big country and especially in this beautiful and rich province of West Java. Congretulation Pak Dede Yusuf ! The young people should exercise the fresh ideas and visionary leadership.
Three years ago IofC- Indonesia have sucessfully organized the 12 APYC held in Cipanas, West Java. Where the participants have a good chance to pay a courtecy call to the Governor and the Mayor of Bandung and also visit to this building of Asia Africa Conference. And two years ago PSAP has successfully initiated the Peace Generation movement in the country and they hand in hand with different fellow youth groups to initiate this IYF2008.
When the youth of the world critically observing and experiencing the current problem of global warming, food, energy and ecological crisis associated with the high mortality rates of women and children, they initiated to take the reponsibility in realizaing the global commitment of MDGs which has been agreed upon and singed by all UN member countries in the Millennium Summit of the UN in 2000.
Sustainable peace can not be achieved without justice, development and integrity. That is why the put the theme of this IYF2008 as : THE ROLE OF THE YOUTH : ACTION ON MILLENNIUM DEVELOPMENT GOALS TOWARDS A PEACEFUL WORLD.
It’s a good sign of hope of our world history that the young generation rise up and take the historical responsibility to create the Peace, Just and Sustainable World for our common future. Opening up a new horizon of hope and develop a Dialogue among Civilizations.
I would like in this pricious opportunity to congretulate all the young people for their genuine and noble initiative and global cooperation. May Allah guide us to the right path.
And I wish to express my highest appreciation and sisncerest thanks and gratitude to HE Minister, Hon Gov, Representative of the Ministries and International Agencies and interprises for their kind support to make this event possible. And also to all of IYF2008 the committee who have been working tirelessly to make this IYF2008 happened.
I wish all participants have a wonderful in stay Bandung, in West Java, in Indonesia and have a productive, innovative and visionary deliberations. God bless you all.

Wassalamu’alaikum wr. Wb.
